 Process: Task 2                     <Task 1       Evaluation>

DorselHuff has provided the following step-by-step directions to guide you through

your Quest. We recommend reading all the steps before beginning the project.

Task Two: Individual Inspiration

Steps

1.  To complete the individual portion of the project, you will need a total of at least five original poems.  You should have completed at least three of them in class. Depending upon which class you are in, you may have written some of the following poems:

  • Geode poem (a.k.a. It was a nice day)
  • Childhood memory poem
  • Connotation poem
  • Symbol poem (purse picture)

For additional poem ideas, click on the following links:

Or try to create a free-verse poem based on your thoughts on a piece of art.

2.  You will need to revise your poem at least once.  Remember, poetry tries to evoke an experience in a reader, saying as much as possible in as few words as possible.  Click here for a revision that will help you know what to look for when editing a poem.

3.  Choose a medium to present your poetry anthology.  You should use a different medium for your individual anthology than you used for your critical collaboration!  You can choose any of the following.

  • Voicethread (creates a slideshow with capability to add images, video, voice, text--pretty cool!)
  • Webpage (Moonfruit creates very visually appealing websites with easy point and click tools.)
  • Wiki (This page is created on a wiki. Wikis allow you to create online pages with text, images, embedded videos, attached documents, links--all with easy point and click editing. If you can type in a Word document, you can create a wiki!)
  • RockYou (Simple point and click tool to create slideshows with images, text, music, with Flash effects. Think Facebook applications!)

4.  Once you have chosen how to present your anthology, you must find images to complement your works.  Consider the following sites.

As with task one, the images will make up your slides on a slideshow, or decorations for your homepage on a website or wiki. The pictures should enhance the meaning or message in the poem, not merely decorate the page.

5.  Using easybib.com, create citations for each of your images.  Make sure to include a link to sources or a sources slide in your final presentation.

6. Format your page or slideshow, placing photos in order, or arranging for links on a website or wiki.

7. Add the text of your poems.  You choose whatever format creates your desired a effect: a link to a typed version of your poem, a voice recording on a mic, text typed atop an image...

8. Include a link to the project on the DorselHuff wiki so that we can easily locate it. Be prepared to present your analysis to a panel comprised of DorselHuff executives and

       other applicants.
